Named After a Politician: The city was originally called "Peck," but it was renamed in 1907 for Thomas Henry Ball, an attorney for the Trinity & Brazos Valley Railroad who was instrumental in routing the rail line through the community.

Festivals Galore: The city celebrates its heritage with popular annual events, including the Tomball German Heritage Festival and the Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival (a celebration of crawfish).

Atlanta, Georgia, has a vibrant sports scene, hosting a number of major professional sports teams and several high-profile national and international sporting events.  

Atlanta also has professional teams in other leagues, such as the Georgia Swarm (indoor lacrosse) and is a major hub for college sports, with NCAA Division I programs like the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia State Panthers, and hosting the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame.
